Two persons fell in a drain and died after their bike collided with the pavement, police said. The incident occurred near Ishaan College in Knowledge Park area of Greater Noida on late Monday night. The deceased, Ummed Ram, 25 and Kamlesh, 26, worked as cooks at a private hostel. Police said the duo was returning from the hostel when the incident occurred.

“The passersby had informed us about the accident at about 10.30 pm. A police team reached the spot within few minutes and rushed the victims to the hospital where they were declared dead on arrival,” said Manish Kumar Sharma, station house officer, Knowledge Park police station.

Police said that the water level in the drain was low.

“The passersby told us that the deceased were riding a bike on a very high speed. They lost balance and collided with the pavement. The bike was tossed in the air and then crashed into the wall of the 10-ft wide drain,” said Sharma.

Police said the deceased had apparently lost consciousness or might have died due to the impact of the accident and then landed into the drain.

“Bodies were sent for postmortem, reports of which are still awaited, to ascertain the reason of their death. Their families were informed about the incident. The bodies will be handed over to them after the autopsy,” said Sharma.

He said no FIR has been registered in the case so far.
