Two days after the body of a scrap dealer, Nazaqat, was recovered in Roopwas village, the Surajpur police have arrested two people, including the Nazaqat’s wife Mohsina.
Police said the duo was arrested from Tilapta Golchakar in Greater Noida on Thursday morning, when they were planning to flee. The other arrested accused has been identified as Sonu alias Kala, 32.
The duo was later produced in the court and sent to jail. Police said that Sonu is a friend of Mohsina’s lover Rahul, 30. Rahul and his accomplice Ravinder are on the run.
During questioning, Mohsina told police that she married Nazaqat eight years ago and has a 6-year-old child from him. A year after their marriage, she fell in love with Rahul, who lived near her house in Hapur.
As Rahul was Nazaqat’s neighbour, no one suspected him. Later, Nazaqat found phone conversations between them. Police said locals of the village in Hapur also knew about Mohsiana’s and Rahul’s relationship.
Mohsina told police that Nazaqat shifted to Santosh Nagar Colony eight months ago to keep her away from Rahul.
After shifting there, Rahul started visiting again. This angered Nazaqat and resulted in fights between the couple. Later, Mohsina planned to kill her husband.
On March 9, Mohsina mixed sedatives in Nazaqat’s dinner and he fall unconscious. She called Rahul, who came with his two friends Sonu and Ravinder.
Nazaqat was taken to a secluded place in Roopwas village and strangled. Rahul and Ravinder are absconding and will be arrested soon, police said.
“When we started investigations, we got to know that Rahul had taken the help of two others. One has been arrested and we have leads on the other. A case of murder has been registered,” said Anuj Kumar, station house officer, Surajpur police station.
