The disaster management cell, along with the district administration, is all set to conduct a mega evacuation drill in 101 schools of Gautam Budh Nagar district on Thursday to create awareness among the students. The Limca Book of Records has agreed to record the event and its observers will also remain present throughout the drill.
Around 8, 000 students and 125 teachers will be sensitised about the safety norms.
The drill will be conducted simultaneously in all schools and will last for an hour from 11am to noon. On Tuesday, district magistrate NP Singh reviewed the preparations and interacted with the officials of the disaster management cell in Noida.
Singh said the drill is being conducted on such a large scale for the first time in the country. The schools for the drill were identified by the disaster management cell Noida in association with the district authorities.
To conduct the exercise, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will be providing 101 personnel.
One personnel will remain present in each school as observer and note the activities. The National Disaster Management Authority and National Institute of Disaster Management have been also invited as observers for this drill, Singh said.
The mega evacuation drill is being sponsored by Noida Authority, Shuttl, PPF, GAIL and National Thermal Power Corporation.
