State legal services authority has launched a mobile legal service cum Lok Adalat in an attempt to take justice to the doorstep of citizens.
Justice Niraj Gautam, secretary of the District Legal services Authority (DLSA) and civil judge of the senior division flagged off the mobile van on Sunday.
“A large section of our society has no knowledge about their rights due to illiteracy. It is therefore imperative to make them aware about their rights and remedies by providing legal services at their doorstep. The mobile van launched today will do just that,” said Gautam, DLSA secretary.
“Today, the van went around in Kasna, Pari Chowk, Kherli and Bilaspur area to increase awareness of legal provisions. Soon judicial officers and other staff will also sit in the van and Lok Adalats will be held at the doorstep. Petty cases, including traffic violations, will be resolved in the mobile Lok Adalat,” said Gautam.
“The legal aid is an essential part of the administration of justice. The goal is to secure justice for the weaker and downtrodden sections of the society. Democracy has no meaning for the citizens unless they are able to secure their basic rights of education, employment and to live with dignity and self respect,” said Gautam.
