A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped at knifepoint in Hoshiarpur village of Sector 51 on Sunday. The case was registered on Wednesday after the girl complained of abdominal pain to her parents and narrated her ordeal.
Police said the incident took place late Sunday evening, when the girl had gone to a shop near her home to buy groceries. While returning home, four boys — aged 15, 16, 17 and 17 — stopped her.
Police said the four were waiting for her near a dark lane. When she reached the lane, they threatened her with a knife. when she resisted, she was gagged and taken to a stable that belonged to one of the boys.
He allegedly raped her inside the stable, while one of his friends filmed the act and two others kept watch outside. The girl told the police that she was gagged and the one filming the incident kept threatening her with the knife.
After half an hour, they let her off from the stable and threatened her against reporting the matter to anyone. She was told that the film would be forwarded to everyone in the village if she dared talk about what transpired to someone.
The girl also told the police that she was beaten by one of the boys when she tried to flee. The matter came to light when the girl’s parents noticed some changes in her behaviour.
For two days, she did not talk to her parents and when they enquired, she complained of abdominal pain and later narrated her ordeal. Following this, a complaint was lodged at Sector 49 police station by her parents and a case of gangrape was registered.
