The total length of all arterial and smaller roads in Noida is 1074.72km. Of this, 67.19km, comprising internal and main roads, are pothole-riddled.

Following the CM’s instructions, the Noida authority took a pledge to repair all potholes latest by May-end. However, the authority will not be able to repair all potholes on all arterial and smaller roads by the end of the month as it has not been able to cover even half of the stretches till May 20.

“We have repaired potholes on 30km of road till May 20. The 30km length is calculated by adding potholes on all main and small roads across Noida. Our work is on in full swing on all roads,” said Hom Singh Yadav, chief engineer, Noida authority.

Noida authority chief executive officer (CEO) Amit Mohan Prasad had directed all engineers to finish repair of all roads as soon as possible.

“I have clear instructions that we should work on public welfare work such as repair of roads, drains, sewerage, etc. We should not take up projects, which are designed for contractors who bring projects to make money. We should work on projects that are necessary for the general public,” said Prasad.

Now the authority has given a deadline to all engineers to finish all repair work latest by June 15.

Noida authority deputy CEO Saumya Srivastava said the authority has made a Twitter handle for people to post pictures of potholes along with its location for immediate repair.

“We have made Twitter handle — @noida_authority#Tag a pothole — to involve people to finish this job by June 15. We will repair the potholes immediately and inform the person through Twitter about the action taken,” he said.

Echoing similar views, Yadav said,“Our effort is that we finish repair work at the earliest. The engineers have been instructed to finish repair of potholes as soon as possible. If the potholes are not repaired till June 15, we will take action against the engineers responsible for the delay.”
