Noida hogs the limelight in CBSE class 12 results with national top scorer

Raksha Gopal, of Amity International School, Sector 44, emerged the national topper by securing 99.6% in the humanities stream

The city students left the rest of the NCR with their outstanding performance in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 board exams, the results of which were declared on Sunday.

Over 18,000 schools across the country are affiliated to the CBSE. As many as 10,98,891 candidates – 6,38,865 boys and 4,60,026 girls – from 10,678 schools appeared for the exam this year.

There was a 2.82% increase in registration in 2017 compared to the previous year. Around 10,67,900 students – 6,21,259 boys and 4,46,641 girls – had taken the exams in 2016.

Making the city proud, 17-year-old Raksha Gopal, of Amity International School, Sector 44, emerged the national topper by securing 99.6% in the humanities stream.

“I am thankful to my parents, my sister and my teachers who supported me throughout the preparations,” Gopal said.

Among the other students who secured high marks is Faraz Rehman Malik of Delhi Public School, Sector 30, who secured 98.8% in the science stream.

“I would like to thank God, my family and my school for supporting me,” Malik said.

The city also had several other students who scored 98% and above.

Asra Khan of Amity International School secured 98.4% in the humanities stream. Kartik Bhatia of Dellhi Public School, Sector 30, secured 98.2% in the humanities stream while Rhea Bhatia of Delhi Public School, Sector 30, scored 98.2% in the commerce stream.

Kamini Bhasin, principal, DPS Noida, said, “We are delighted by the success of our students. The results are the teamwork of students, parents and teachers.”

Pratyush Srivastava of Amity International School got 98.2% in the science steam while Mannan Mittal of Amity International School scored 98% in the commerce stream.

Other city schools such as Vishwa Bharti School, City public School and Ryan International School also secured a 100% result with all students scoring above 60%.

Renu Singh, principal, Amity International School, said, “Our school has performed exceptionally well this year. We have the national topper and toppers from other streams as well. We would like to congratulate them. Nothing is impossible if one has the willpower.”
