Union culture minister Dr Mahesh Sharma felicitated Noida girl and All India CBSE topperRaksha Gopal on Wednesday saying the prime minister wanted him to wish her on his behalf.

“I received a call from the Prime Minister’s Office two days ago and Modiji asked me whether I had wished Raksha on her phenomenal performance. He asked me to convey his wishes to Raksha,” Sharma said.

An excited Raksha told HT that she hopes one day, she will be able to meet Modi.

“I was thrilled when I got to know that Mr Sharma has got a message for me from the PMO. I know that he is on a tour right now, but I hope that once he is back, I will get a chance to meet him,” Raksha said.

On Sunday morning, Raksha (17), a student of Amity International School in Noida Sector 44, was declared the All India topper of CBSE 12th Boards. She scored a phenomenal 99.6% in the humanities stream.

In an event attended by Sharma, Noida MLA Pankaj Singh, former Noida MLA Vimla Batham and other dignitaries on Wednesday felicitated Raksha, her sister and mother.

“It gives me immense pride to see that a daughter of Noida has made her mark across India with her performance. Girls have outshone boys in every field, “ Sharma said.

Pankaj Singh said he is immensely proud of the fact that somebody from his alma mater has topped the country.

“I am grateful to the minister and MLA Singh for making me feel so special. All credit goes to my family,” Raksha said.
