Noida: Man attempts to kill wife over marital discord
The man had tried to make the whole incident look like a robbery bid. A case has been registered against him
He thought his wife was dead and no one would suspect him, but the timely attention of doctors gave a different twist to the plan he hatched. A case of attempt to murder was registered against him.
Mohammed Salim, 25, had differences with his wife Shabana, 23. To get rid of her, he hatched a plan. Salim shot his wife in the abdomen and right arm, when they were travelling to Noida from Bulandshahr late Wednesday night.
The victim had gone to Bulandshahr to meet her parents. Both were returning in their Maruti Swift VDI. Around 9:20pm, when they reached near a CRPF camp in Ecotech-3 area of Greater Noida, Salim shot his wife.
To make the whole incident look like a robbery bid, he cooked up a story. He called police control room and told the police that two armed assailants intercepted his car and tried to rob his wife of her jewellery. He told the police that when Shabana resisted, the assailants shot her twice and ran away.
Shabana was bleeding profusely and was rushed to a private hospital in Noida, where she underwent treatment, the police said.
Around 2am on Thursday, she gained consciousness and her statement was recorded by the police. Shabana told the police that her husband would often fight with her and used to beat her up.The duo was going through a marital discord for the last three years and it started soon after their marriage. She told the investigating officer that it was her husband who allegedly tried to kill her.
As Salim came to know about his wife’s statement to the police, he fled the hospital in his car. A case of attempt to murder has been registered against him at Ecotech-3 police station.
During routine checking on Thursday evening, the police arrested Salim. “We arrested him near Haldwani Morh in Greater Noida. He is a resident of Salarpur and works with a chemist. We recovered two live cartridges from his possession,” said Balwan Singh, station house officer of Ecotech-3 .
The SHO said Shabana is still under treatment and her family has been informed about the incident.
