Several service roads in the city are full of vends, illegally parked vehicles and slum dwellings. One of them is the service road of the main carriageway leading from Noida City Centre to Sector 71. The condition of Master Plan 1, 2 and 3 and other stretches such as the one from Fortis Hospital to Sector 62 B Block, Film City to Sector 61 and Mandi Road are the same.

“It seems that the Noida authority is not interested in maintaining the service roads. The city police is equally responsible for this mess. And the city administration is a mute spectator. How can we expect a better service road? There are taxi stands, tea vends and even huts on service roads at several places. We have raised this issue with the district administration earlier. We will talk to them again about it,” said Harish Joneja, a resident of Sector 28.

“The service road from the Sector 33 intersection to Sector 71 intersection is not motorable and that is why local commuters have to use the main carriageway and they get stuck in traffic jams. The service lane is dirty, full of bushes and completely broken,” said Amit Tyagi, a sector of Sector 33.

Traffic police officers said they are aware of the problem.

“There is no doubt that the condition of service roads in the city is not good. This adds to the traffic chaos. The issue has been discussed several times during meetings with the Noida authority,” said a senior traffic police officer.

Despite repeated attempts, Noida authority officials could not be reached for comment.
