The traffic police continued its crackdown on traffic violations in Noida and Greater Noida in a bid to streamline vehicular movement on city roads.

The traffic police on Tuesday seized three autorickshaws and penalised 52 persons for violating traffic rules in Sector 37 of Noida.

The police said they have prioritised the areas and issues to ensure that roads are congestion-free throughout the day. Moreover, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, NP Singh, has also given directions that the city should be free from traffic violations within a month.

The traffic police on Tuesday seized three autorickshaws and penalised 52 persons for violating traffic rules in Sector 37 of Noida. Also, pressure horns were removed from 33 vehicles near the Hoshiarpur exit in a two-hour drive.

Superintendent of police (traffic), Prabal Pratap Singh, said, “Action has been initiated to check all violations in the city. The action will continue till commuters start following the rules and regulations. We are hopeful of addressing the major problems in a month’s time.”

He said that pressure horns adversely affect the noise level but drivers continue to use it.

In a recently held meeting, Singh had said that commuters face inconvenience near metro stations and markets as auto drivers park their vehicles haphazardly.

A major problem of congestion was reported from Noida City Centre Metro station as autorickshaw drivers would park their vehicles on the main carriageway and the service lanes.

However, a team of police personnel has been permanently deployed at the City Centre Metro station to check the violation. Also, a crane has been pressed into service in front of Logix Mall to impound cars parked in violation of rules.

Singh also said that personnel would be deployed on Udyog Marg to act against commuters not following the one-way route. At present, traffic flows on both sides of the road, leading to severe traffic snarls on the four-kilometre stretch.
