City residents appealed to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) to rectify erratic electricity bills and ensure that the online payment system is functional at the earliest.
Residents have been facing these problems for the last few months and have written to UPPCL officials repeatedly. Both the domestic and commercial consumers are facing the problems.
“I tried to make bill payment thrice in the last five days. The system or the UPPCL page opens but the final payment does not happen. The due date for my bill payment is in three days. I informed the officials who assured me that the complaint will be attended to,” Sushil Kumar Jain, president of Sector 18 market association, said.
Vipul Aggarwal, a shop owner in Atta Market, Sector 27, said, “I tried to make online payment of bill but it failed. I had to go to the UPPCL office in Sector 16 and make the payment to avoid the penalty. The online payment system is often faulty.”
Alok Gupta, a city resident, wants officials to check incorrect bills. “My electricity bill is incorrect. I was already facing problems trying to clarify about my security deposit for the last nine months and now, I have got an inflated electricity bill too. I am going to write to the UP electricity department. The UPPCL claims to have updated the system but the situation is pathetic,” he said.
More than 2,000 complaints of erratic or inflated electricity bills are pending in Noida.
Superintending engineer (SE) Noida Mukul Singhal directed junior engineers to correct all pending electricity bills of consumers and also be available at the payment counters. Complaints of incorrect or inflated electricity bills are received from across the residential, commercials and industrial areas of the city.
“We have taken adequate steps to correct inflated bills. We have resolved maximum number of such bills. Meanwhile, all JEs have been directed to attend to complainants to resolve issues instantly,” Singhal said.
