The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will soon ply buses from Ghaziabad to Bihar. The regional manager has applied for a permit and the buses will start plying in the next 10 days.
Currently, there are no UPSRTC buses from Ghaziabad to Bihar and this causes a lot of inconvenience to a large number of people whose home town is in Bihar. There are no buses from Bihar to Ghaziabad either.
“A request for a permit to ply to Bihar has been submitted which will be approved in a few days. In the first phase, the buses will go to Patna, Gaya and Gopal Ganj. As of now, the nearest stop for a passenger going to Bihar is Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. From there they have to change buses for the onward journey,” said PK Bose, Ghaziabad regional manager, UPSRTC.
“Special orders from the headquarters in Lucknow were sent to get the permits for buses from Ghaziabad to Bihar. This will done as soon as possible in order to connect the upcoming city with the neighbouring state of Bihar,” he said.
The buses which will originate from Kaushambi bus depot and three new multi-axle buses have been purchased for the new service.
“Three more buses will start plying to Bihar in the next 10 days. These buses will be air-conditioned and since they are multi-axled ones, they will be more comfortable than the normal buses,” said Anil Kumar, additional regional manager, Kaushambi Bus Depot.
According to Kumar, buses to Bihar will be a boon for residents as until now, they had to take private buses to reach their home towns in that state.
“There is a large population from Bihar staying in Ghaziabad and who travel to that state during the holidays. Considering this, we plan to start the service before the summer holidays end. The seats can be booked online,” he said.
