The police booked an English teacher of a private school in Karera on Tuesday for allegedly beating a 16-year-old student. The teacher is on the run, the police said.

A note purportedly containing remarks against the teacher, Adil, on Saturday led to the incident, the police said. When he asked two students to find out who was behind the note, the girl allegedly mocked the two students and allegedly called them the “teacher’s servants”, the police said.

The two students complained about the girl to the teacher who allegedly took her to the staff room and beat her behind closed doors, the girl told the police.

The girl told her parents about the incident and they went to the school on Wednesday morning. But the school authorities did not let them enter after which the police were called, the parents said.

“Her face was red and swollen. We knew she was slapped. If the teacher wanted to punish our daughter, he should have asked a woman teacher to scold her. We want the teacher to be arrested and suspended for assaulting our daughter,” the girl’s father said.

The school management could not be contacted despite several attempts.

“We registered an FIR against the teacher and are searching for him. He is on the run since the incident,” Haridayal Singh Yadav, station house officer of the Sahibabad police station, said.
