Avnish Dixit, station house officer (SHO) of Kasna, said Jitender Nagar, Ompal and Hirdesh had attacked the journalist, Anshuman Yadav, after he had an argument with Nagar on Sunday afternoon. All three alleged assailants were on the run and were nabbed from different locations. Nagar and Ompal are residents of Dankaur while Hirdesh is from Dadri.

Yadav said Ompal and Hirdesh were arrested from Ghodi Gaon in Greater Noida, and prime accused Jitender Nagar was produced before a local court on Tuesday morning.

On Sunday afternoon, Nagar had gone to Yadav’s office in Alpha 1 sector in Greater Noida to enquire about a phone number and allegedly created a ruckus when he was refused information. With help of some co-workers, Yadav got him out of the office, which became a point of contention between the two. Later in the evening, three masked men, believed to be Nagar, Hirdesh and Ompal, allegedly attacked Yadav at his office.

Yadav said the assailants had also shot at him using a countrymade pistol. However, police have not recovered any weapon from them.

The three were produced before the district court on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody.
