Three “members” of a criminal gang were on Sunday arrested for allegedly abducting and murdering a “member” of the rival gang in Kasna.
The incident took place on May 14 when Ghaziabad resident Bheem Singh was abducted by members of his rival gang in a car. A day later, his body was found in Loni area of Ghaziabad.
Some passersby had videotaped the abduction, following which the police registered an FIR and arrested one of the accused, identified as Jeevan.
Three absconding accused - Ashwani Gurjar, Sonu and Mohit - were arrested on Sunday and the car used in the crime was recovered from them.
“On May 14, Bheem Singh had come to Kasna with his brother Gyanendra to eliminate his rivals Ashwani and others. Bheem, his father Ram Kishan, brother Gyanendra and a relative were accused of killing Ashwani’s father Bablu Gurjar few years ago. Singh and Gyanendra were acquitted but his father and relative were convicted for the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment,” Abhishek Yadav, superintendent of police (rural), Gautam Budh Nagar, said.
Ashwani and his accomplices saw Bheem on the day and tried to abduct them. They kidnapped Bheem while Gyanendra managed to flee the spot, the police said.
Ashwani also has a many criminal cases lodged against him at many police stations in the city, the police said.
“The murder was the result of gang war between the two families. We have recovered the weapon of offence, a pistol, from the accused. They were produced in a court and were sent to jail,” said Yadav.
