The police on Wednesday arrested two young men from Loni in Ghaziabad on charges of kidnapping, causing hurt by means of poison and gang rape of a Class 9 student.
The police also invoked provisions of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act against the two accused.
Although the incident took place on November 9, the girl’s family lodged an FIR on November 18 as her condition deteriorated and she bled continuously. She was referred to the emergency wing of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi on Wednesday.
The police said they have arrested the two people who belong to a different community named in the FIR.
“Both of them confessed to the crime. The accused were known to the girl for past some time,” circle officer Anil Yadav said.
“The doctors at the hospital in Loni where we took her first said that she had been raped. Her private parts had been mutilated,” her father said.
However, the doctors at AIIMS, according to her parents, said it was not a case of rape.
