Noida homebuyers with UP CM minister Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday directed chief secretary Rahul Bhatnagar, the Noida and Greater Noida authorities chief executive officer Amit Mohan Prasad to address homebuyers’ issues as soon as possible in Noida and Greater Noida.

The direction came after a delegation of homebuyers from Greater Noida West and Jaypee Wish Town housing project in Noida’s sector 128 met the chief minister in Lucknow on Thursday.

The delegation demanded strict action against builders that have delayed housing projects up to seven years.

Homebuyers have to deal with late delivery of flats, poor construction quality, deviation from sanctioned layout map, hefty maintenance charges, unreasonable charges and bouncers who misbehave with buyers.

The CM asked officials to act against builders who are repeatedly troubling buyers.

Thousands of homebuyers have been cheated at the hands of builders who have failed to deliver projects citing a dip in sales amid a slowdown in the realty sector.

Noida MLA Pankaj Singh was present in the meeting that lasted for 30 minutes in the Shashtri Bhavan secretariat.

“The CM asked the chief secretary to ensure issues of all homebuyers are addressed as soon as possible. He asked the chief secretary to call all the builders to the government office and give them a deadline to give possession to homebuyers,” said Abhishek Kumar, president of Noida Extension flat owners’ welfare association.

After meeting the CM, the buyers had a brief meeting with UP industry minister Satish Mahana.

“The chief minister said that if buyers need, he will send the industry minister to Noida and Greater Noida to ensure homebuyers are not harassed by the builders,” said Indrish Gupta, another buyer.

Eight members from the Noida Extension flat owners’ welfare association and one from Jaypee Wish Town in sector 128 met the chief minister.

The CM said Noida MLA Pankaj Singh will monitor the meetings between buyers and the builders. The MLA will inform the chief minister about the outcome of the meetings.

“The CM said if the issues are not solved by the builders then we can inform Pankaj Singh. Our Noida MLA will ensure the CM takes action against errant builders.

“I will keep taking homebuyers’ issues to right platforms until they get relief. The CM said this government is with every person facing any sort of trouble or facing harassment,” said Pankaj Singh.

“The CM agreed to my suggestion of formation of a buyers’ grievance cell in Noida authority. The CM directed officials that builders should be given a time-bound delivery plan. Anyone fails that plan and don’t give concrete deadline of delivery of flats should face strict legal action,” said Mitroo Krishan, a retired Air Force official and a Jaypee Group buyer.
