A 22-year-old woman fell to death from the eighth floor of a building in Sector 100, Noida, in the wee hours of Friday, the police said.
The woman, a resident of Greater Kailash in Delhi, was at a friend’s apartment in Noida’s Lotus Boulevard residential complex to celebrate her birthday when the incident happened.
“The birthday party ended around 3:45 am and the incident occurred around 4:30 am. Five friends were present in the rented apartment at the time of the incident,” Dinesh Yadav, superintendent of police (City), Noida, said.
The woman had graduated in journalism from Amity University, Noida, in March 2015. She left her job with a private company in Gurgaon about a month ago and was searching for a new job, the police said.
“The woman’s family reached here around 4:30 pm from Amritsar. The autopsy report suggests there was no foul play. We questioned the five men, who were in the flat at the time of incident. It has been concluded that it is an accident,” Vijay Dhull, circle officer city-I, Noida, said.
“She was sitting on the parapet of the balcony. Her friends said they tried to grab her when she lost her balance,” Dhull added.
According to the police, the cause of death is ante-mortem injuries and the viscera have been preserved for further investigation.
Her family did not file an FIR as they considered it to be an accident, the police said.
“Her friends said she fell off accidentally. A viscera examination will be done to further probe the matter,” Kiran Sivakumar, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Gautam Budh Nagar, said.
This is the fourth incident of unnatural death reported from this housing complex in the last few months.
On November 16, a Delhi police ACP working in the Special Cell allegedly committed suicide with his service pistol in his apartment. On seeing him dead, his wife jumped from their fourth floor apartment. She later succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
On October 16, a BSc (Marine science) student of Amity University was shot dead at his rented apartment in the same housing complex.
