The body of a woman was found stuffed in a suitcase on the Agra-Mathura highway on Friday. The victim seems to in her 40s. Her body was found scantily clad, raising apprehensions about sexual assault. The incident comes close after the Bulandshahr robbery and gangrape case after which highway security in the state had come under scanner.
According to reports, some passersby found a suitcase on the Agra-Mathura highway around 7 am on Friday. As the suitcase was heavy and locked, they informed the police.
The in-charge of Farah police station in Mathura, Subhash Chandra Sharma, reached the spot and opened the suitcase to find the woman’s body in it.
Sharma said it appeared that the woman had died somewhere else and the body dumped on the highway.
He added that the police would wait for the post-mortem report and it could not be confirmed at this stage if the woman had been sexually assaulted.
