Yamuna expressway concessionaire to construct interchange to decongest Jewar
The 5.5-kilometre stretch will extend from the Jewar underpass and end at the Siyaroli underpass, providing a breather to thousands of commuters who get stuck in traffic congestion while travelling from Jewar to Bulandshahr. The road will be constructed adjacent to the Yamuna Expressway, from the 36-kilometre milestone to the 42-kilometre milestone, officials said.
To address the rampant traffic congestion in Jewar and surrounding areas, Jaypee Infratech and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will develop an interchange road from Jewar to Siyaroli, officials said.
Similarly, YEIDA has also asked Jaypee to construct an interchange road on the expressway to facilitate movement of heavy vehicles from the interchange to a proposed underpass.

YEIDA has provided Jaypee Infratech, the concessionaire of Yamuna Expressway, a no-objection certificate to commence the construction work of the underpass. YEIDA has also asked Jaypee to construct an interchange a few kilometres before the Jewar toll plaza to connect the expressway with the Jewar-Bulandshahr Road.
The decision was taken at a meeting held on Wednesday morning among Jewar member of legislative assembly Thakur Dhirendra Singh, YEIDA chief executive officer Dr Arun Vir Singh and representatives of Jaypee Infratech.
“The people of Jewar have been troubled by rampant traffic congestion and jams on the road adjacent to the expressway while travelling to Bulandshahr and areas in that direction. I spoke to YEIDA officials and representatives of Jaypee Infratech, and asked them to commence the construction work as soon as possible,” said Singh.
After the construction of the 7-metre wide interchange road from Jewar to Siyaroli, experts believe that it will provide relief to heavy vehicles that use the Jewar route.
“To find a solution to rampant traffic congestion on Jewar-Bulandshahr route, Jaypee has been provided with an NOC to construct a 5.5-kilometre stretch alongside the expressway. Similarly, we are also building an interchange before the Jewar toll plaza. The construction work will start on June 15,” YEIDA CEO said.
