Sung Ji Hyun is currently ranked third in the world but world No. 9 Saina Nehwal has an impressive record against the Korean. Out of seven times they have played each other, Saina Nehwal has won six matches.

The last time Saina Nehwal and Sung Ji Hyun played each other was in the India Open in Delhi last April. Saina Nehwal won that match 19-21, 21-14, 21-19.
