Soon after Vijender Singh punched the daylights out of Tanzanian boxer Francis Cheka to successfully defend his WBO Asia Pacific super-middleweight crown, Virender Sehwag was onto Twitter to congratulate the Olympic bronze medallist boxer.

And just like in the cricket field where Virander Sehwag used to dominate the way only he could, on the social media too, he left others, even the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar way behind.

It was Vijender Singh’s eighth successive win and social media was abuzz the moment the Harayana pugilist was declared winner.

Virender Sehwag as usual had a unique way to congratulate the Olympic bronze medallist. “Congratulations Tau @boxervijender. Cheka ka Theka le liya. Everybody should drink Chikoo Shake in honour of your win.#NightOfTheChampions,” the former Indian opener twitted.

Sehwag, away from the commentary sessions, has been posting one-liners on the social media for sometime. Sehwag’s tweet has been retweeted over 9100 times and been liked by over 2500 users. Vijender replied to the tweet later Saturday night.

Sachin Tendulkar tweeted: “There’s no stopping the champion @boxervijender!! Made us all proud :) #NightOfTheChampions” to wish the boxer. This message was retweeted only around 900 times.

There were a number of fans and celebrities who were present at the stadium as well, including five-time world champion MC Mary Kom, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, star wrestlers Sushil Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt and yoga guru Baba Ramdev.
