Hockey India to move court against Kirti Azad

Hockey India and its president Narinder Batra have decided to file civil and criminal defamation suits against former India cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad. The hockey body chief told HT that Azad had crossed his limits and was defaming hockey and Batra in public and it was time to take some action against him. The HI confirmed that both the cases will be filed next week.

Batra will be filing a Rs 10cr civil defamation suit against Azad. “In all the press conferences, Azad has been defaming HI along DDCA. He has been alleging fraud in HI and now we want him to prove all of that in court. We have patient all this while but now even we can’t handle it any more,” Batra said.

“Kirti Azad was going on and on defaming us in public. While we were ignoring him for a long time but it really urged us to do something about him. He has been terming HI as a fraudulent organisation and is levelling allegations of irregularities against us. It was time that we took some action and decided to go to the court,” said the HI president .
