Preview:

After beating their nemesis twice during the Hero Hockey World League Semi Final in June this year, India will meet Pakistan in their third Pool A match on October 15 in a much-anticipated encounter.

Speaking about playing rivals Pakistan, Indian hockey team captain Manpreet Singh said, “Yes there will always be anticipation and excitement for the lovers of the sport to watch an India versus Pakistan match. But for us, the aim is simple – beat every team in our pool and make it to the next stage.”

After beating Japan 5-1 in their opening match, the India mauled minnows Bangladesh 7-0 on Friday. Pakistan, on the other hand, have had a mixed outing so far. While they thrashed Bangladesh 7-0 in their campaign-opener, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Japan in their next match.

India are currently sitting atop Pool A with six points from two wins while Pakistan are placed second with four points.
