Pro Kabaddi League: Nitin Tomar upstages Manjeet Chillar, tops auctions

Nitin Tomar from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh was snapped up for a cool Rs93 lakh and fellow raider Rohit Kumar got Rs81 lakh in the players auction for the fifth season of Vivo Pro Kabaddi League.
The two upstaged the face of Indian kabaddi, all-rounder Manjeet Chillar, who briefly led the list after being bought for Rs75.50 lakh before the late brisk buying pushed him to third.
Nitin Tomar, whose base price was Rs20 lakh, was thrilled after being bought by the Uttar Pradesh franchise for almost five times his base price. Nitin, who was watching the auction live, couldn’t believe his good fortune. “It’s a dream come true. All my family members are happy. I can spend some of the money on my sister’s marriage,” he said. Rohit Kumar went to Bengaluru Bulls.
Delhi’s Manjeet Chillar had been the most expensive player after he was bought by Jaipur Pink Panther, from a base price of Rs20 lakh. Last season, Chillar was retained by Puneri Paltan for Rs27 lakh.
Surjeet Singh of Indian Navy was bought for Rs73 lakh by Bengal Warriors. Selvamani K of Tamil Nadu was sold for Rs 73 lakh to Jaipur Pink Panther.
Another all-rounder from Haryana, Rajesh Kumar, was sold for Rs 69 Lakh to the Uttar Pradesh team.
