In the interest of the boxers, the international boxing body, AIBA, has allowed the Indian youth team to participate in the Abbas Agalarov Cup in Azerbaijan, but has barred officials from accompanying the squad.

Because of the provisional suspension of the Indian Amateur Boxing Federation (IABF), the AIBA has only granted permission to boxers and coaches, but made it clear in its communication to IABF that no officials will be allowed with the team.

The event will be held at Azerbaijan capital Baku from December 19.

The AIBA has made it clear that it will not recognise the new IABF and thus will not entertain any communication from its secretary-general Rajesh Bhandari.

In a strongly worded e-mail sent to IABF, AIBA director of external relations, Patricia Steulet, has said, "Please instruct below person (Bhandari) to stop communicating with AIBA. He is not recognised as the secretary-general of the IABF and therefore, we will not communicate with him."

The e-mail further said, "Boxers and coaches may participate in the event but no official whatsoever."
