World champion Viswanathan Anand crushed his former challenger Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria in the third round to jump to the joint second spot in the Norway Chess 2013. Sergey Karjakin of Russia scored his third straight victory at the expense of Wang Hao of China to lead the table with three points. Anand and Levon Aronian follow him, a full point behind.

Sharmila makes cut
Belek (Turkey): Indian golfer Sharmila Nicollet made her first cut of the season after carding a two-over 75 in the second round of the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open. She is now three-over 149 at the par-73 course. The cut fell at six-over 152.

Divij-Purva bow out
Kunming: Divij Sharan and Purav Raja overcame a wobbly start to put up a good fight but eventually lost 2-6, 6-7 (5) in the semifinals of the ATP Challenger to Australian pair of Samuel Groth and John-Patrick Smith, on Saturday.
