other Updated: Oct 01, 2010 00:06 IST

The Army will hand over the newly built Bailey foot overbridge outside main Commonwealth Games venue Jawaharlal Nehru stadium to the authorities on Friday, six days after it was tasked to construct it.

The Army was approached by Delhi Government after the 95m long under-construction foot overbridge came crashing down on September 21 injuring 27 people and causing a major embarrassment to the country.

The Army engineers had started work on the bridge on Saturday after an alternate plan by PWD was rejected. They completed its construction on Wednesday.

The monkey witnessed roaming about in the pathways. However, as soon as the monkey was spotted inside the Village the officials rushed into action and got the primate out of the area.
