Bindra wins silver in Asian Airgun Championship

Beijing Olympic Games gold-medallist, Abhinav Bindra, won a silver in the men's 10m air rifle event at the Asian Airgun Championships in Kuwait. He shot a qualification score of 594 with series of 98, 99, 99, 99, 100 and 99 and then followed it up with a 103.6 in the finals to claim silver. Another Indian, Satyendra Singh, won bronze with a score of 696.7 (593+103.7). The gold was won by air rifle world record holder Zhu Qinan of China with a score of 700.2 (598+102.2).

Top teams for Shastri hockey

New Delhi: Some of the leading hockey players of Germany and New Zealand will be seen in action in the Lal Bahadur Shastri U-21 Four-Nation Women's Tournament to be held at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium from November 8-12.

While, Germany would be sending a 30-member contingent, including coaches, managers and doctors, New Zealand would be sending a 23-member contingent. Besides host India, the fourth team in the fray is Australia.

Gurbani, Gauri in 2nd spot after Rd 1

Kandy, Sri Lanka: Indian girls, Gurbani Singh and Gauri Monga, were lying second at the end of the first round, trailing leaders Malaysia by four shots, at the Sri Lankan Amateur golf championships. Playing at the par-73 Victoria Golf and Country Resort, Gurbani carded the day's second best shot of 74, while Gauri had problems on the putting green and ended with 80.

Callaway Junior golf from Friday

New Delhi: Budding junior golfers, including Vani Kapoor, will vie for top honours when the first edition of Callaway Golf Junior Tour tees off in India from October 22. The tour will take place across eight cities.
