Expressing disappointment over last-minute "problems" surrounding the Commonwealth Games preparations, British Foreign Secretary William Hague on Wednesday said his country was ready to help India overcome them.

His offer came at the close of a day that saw England, Wales and Scotland threaten to pull out over living conditions at the Games Village.

"It's very disappointing for the athletes that these problems have now arisen and we do want them sorted out as rapidly as possible. And if there's any help that we can give to India in doing so we will do that," Hague said.
