There were just three decisive games on the top 10 boards in the fourth round of the Kolkata Open chess championship on Friday. The one on the second board saw GM Sandipan Chanda beat GM P Magesh Chandran with black pieces, which left him the sole leader with four points.

Second-seed and one of the five overnight leaders, GM Nigel Short was forced to defend with black pieces by GM Eltaj Safarli on top board. The draw left in a pack of four on the second spot with 3.5 points.
