Richa Mishra, one of the three national swimmers who tested positive for methylhexaneamine, is distraught after the findings. The eight-time senior national champion said she never thought her career would come to such a point and blamed the officials for her misery.

"I was not aware of this substance. Neither the coach nor the federation apprised us of this 'salt'," she told Hindustan Times.

How did it happen?
It was a routine test during the Senior National Aquatic Championship in Jaipur last month. I never took it seriously since I knew I would come clean. But I am shocked. Soon after, I called up national coach, Pradeep Kumar, and even he had nothing to say.

Did you take prohibited supplements?
I have never used anything that will hamper my career. Somebody told me this particular chemical is also found in soft drinks, flavoured drinks and some hair products. Since I have been on medication, I can't figure out the source.

Why were you on medication?
I have been using Tugain 2% to prevent baldness since I suffer from hair loss, and swimming has aggravated the problem. Also, in order to delay my periods (menstruation), I have been consuming 'Ciserone N'. I started the tablet on August 14 and discontinued it on August 28.

I gave my sample on August 26. These are the only two things I have consumed apart from my usual supplements, which consist of proteins and multi-vitamins.

I have never used steroids to enhance my performance.

You never thought you'd fail the test?
I am a two-time National Games champion. There, we (players) would go through dope tests on a regular basis. I always came out clean.

How is it that this time I failed a test for a substance I was unaware of?

I've also had a word with Rajiv Tomar (wrestler banned after testing positive). He was also caught for the same substance and he said he was trying to get a list of the banned substances.

When are you scheduled for 'B' sample test?
It's going to be today and I am hoping for the best. For a player with 15 years of experience, it's humiliating.
