The duration of the World Snooker championship to be held in Hyderabad next month has been reduced by five days --- 10 days instead of originally planned 15. The championship, scheduled from Nov 14-29, will now be conducted from Nov 15-25.

The Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) and the sport’s world governing body are giving different reasons for the change of plan.

While the International Billiards and Snooker Federation has blamed withdrawal by a major sponsor for shortening the duration of the tournament, BSFI vice-president Ravi Tandon claims that sponsorship had got nothing to do with the decision.
