Gauswami wins silver in shooting World Cup

Lajja Gauswami clinched the silver medal in women’s 50m Rifle 3 Position event on Tuesday, bringing to an end India’s lean run at the ISSF World Cup in Granada, Spain. London Olympics silver medallist Vijay Kumar could not qualify for the finals of men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event after finishing 13th in the qualification round.

Indian junior lifters win team title
New Delhi: India’s women weightlifters won the team title in the just-concluded Asian Junior Championships at Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan ahead of the powerhouses like China and Korea.
The junior women lifters had won seven medals (three silver and four bronze) to top the standings with 463 points.
The Indian team won their biggest ever haul of 17 medals, bettering the 14 won in 2005 in Tashkent.

IOA to go ahead with July 11 meeting
New Delhi: The Indian Olympic Association will go ahead with its scheduled general body meeting on Thursday here to discuss the roadmap prepared by the IOC for India’s return to Olympic fold, despite strong opposition by some members who feel such a conclave will serve no purpose at this stage.
