Rising Indian shuttler PV Sindhu's giant-killing spree came to a halt after she went down fighting to world number nine Jiang Yanjiao in the women's singles semifinals of the Li Ning China Masters Super Series badminton tournament in Changzhou on Saturday.

The 17-year-old, who created a flutter on Friday by beating Olympic champion Li Xuerui in the quarterfinals, lost 10-21, 21-14, 19-21 to home favourite Yanjiao in an hour and six minutes.

In another semifinal, Ajay Jayaram's brilliant run came to an end when he lost to Hu Yun of Hong Kong 21-16, 21-18. Yun will battle it out with Chen Long of China for the China Masters title.

Three out of five finals are all-Chinese affairs while the remaining two have one Chinese in the fray for the top honours.
