The archery test event for the Commonwealth Games commenced at the Yamuna Sports Complex here on Tuesday with India's Chinna Raju Srither leading the men's individual compound category with an aggregate score of 688. Malaysian teammates Lang Keong Hon (685) and Jignas Chittibomma (685) were second and third respectively.
In the women's individual compound category, the lone Indian contender for third place was Bheigyabati Chanu with a score of 69, while the English duo of Jane Nicola Hunt and Rae Nichola Simpson bagged first and second with an aggregate of 681 & 671 respectively.
The men's team compound saw Malaysia leading the charts for the qualification round with a score of 2035. India followed with an aggregate of 2034, while England settled for third with 2022. In the women's team compound, India was second with a score of 1971 while the first and third positions were taken by England (2004) and Scotland (1953) respectively.
In men's team recurve, India led with a score of 1992, while Malaysia was a distant second at 1941 and the Scots were third (1881). Indian women (1945) led the team recurve category ahead of Malaysia (1775) and Wales (1732).
The Indian contingent of Tarundeep Rai, Rahul Banerjee and Kapil stole the top three places out of 27 archers in the men's individual recurve, with scores of 668, 667 and 665. Indian women also led in the individual recurve with Rimil Buruily (663), Pranitha Vardiheni and Chekrovolu Swuro leading the charge.
