Goa’s Avdumber Hede claimed pole position from championship leader Vishnu Prasad in the Polo R Cup in the qualifying session for the two races to be held today at the Irungattukottai circuit at Sriperumbudur on the outskirts of Chennai.
The final round of this year's JK Tyre National Racing Championship was scheduled to be held at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida but was shifted to one of India's traditional motorsport hubs after the F1 grade circuit’s owners’ Jaypee Group closed the track for maintenance. Another title contender, Rahil Noorani of Mumbai will start fourth behind Pune's Oshan Kothadiya.
V Rajvirdhan claimed the drivers’ championship in the premier Indian Touring Cars class with a race to spare in wet conditions to take the chequered flag for the fourth time in 11 starts this season.
Eighteen-year-old Diljith Shaji took the title in the Indian Junior Touring Cars class with some careful driving although he finished outside the podium, even as last year’s champion B Balavijay and his MotoRev India teammate Gokul Krishna drove aggressively for a 1-2 finish ahead of HCZ Racing’s Feroze Khan.
