Speaking to new channel CNN-IBN's Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, Commonwealth Games OC chief Suresh Kalmadi hit back at detractors, including Sharad Pawar and CGF chief executive, Mike Hooper. Here’s what he said.
On corruption charges
I'm ready for any inquiry, including a judicial inquiry. All decisions were taken by the executive board, no decision was taken by Suresh Kalmadi. You can also pass this message to Mr Sharad Pawar who has made certain statement. Let there be an inquiry of both CWG & BCCI. There should be accountability in all bodies.
Mike Hooper has been in Delhi for the last four years and he should have known what is happening. There is no point in blaming the government, because the government has given full support. Mike whooper need not blame the government and he should have done his job. He could have done much more and he should share responsibility for not doing his job.
Will he take blame for the CWG mess
Whatever is said if it's right I would correct myself but whenever it's unnecessary I don't listen to it too much. But as the Chairman of the Organising Committee I take the blame of any mess also. When the games are over I should get the credit for the success. I'm ready to take all the blame. As the chairman of OC I'm ready to accept whatever is there. But having said that whoever is entitled to deliver like for example the games village, if there is a fight between the builder and the contractor that can't be attributed to me.
