Mixed doubles pair of Prajakta Sawant and Pranav Chopra became the first Indian combination to reach the semifinals of the Asian Youth (U-19) badminton championship, thereby guaranteeing a bronze medal.

India has never won a medal in the Asian Under-19 championship before. The unseeded Indians thrashed Tan Wee Tat and Ng Hui Ern 21-17, 21-12 to book a last four clash against Chinese Kai Lu and Yixin Bao. Chopra failed to guarantee himself a second medal when he and partner Sai Praneet, lost to Angga Pratama and Yohanes Rendy Sugiarto 21-17, 21-8 in the doubles quarters.

Earlier, Sikki Reddy, Saili Rane, Sumeeth Reddy and H S Prannoy crashed out in the pre-quarters.
