Indian wrestlers’ gold haul floors Great Khali

The Great Khali is overwhelmed by the performance of Indian wrestlers at the Commonwealth Games.
Talking to HT over the phone from Belgium, the WWE wrestler said Indian wrestling had come of age. “India is now in the record books for being the only country to win 10 gold medals in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games. I am very happy for them,” he said.
The Great Khali had a special word of praise for shooter Vijay Kumar. “He has brought laurels to the state by bagging three gold and one silver medal. The state government should suitably reward him for his stupendous performance,” said Khali, who is in Belgium these days for the shooting of a French movie.
Khali also paid tributes to Indian soldiers killed in World War-I at a memorial in Brussels on Sunday.
“Though I have a house in USA, I want to settle in India,” said Khali, who is planning to return home by the end of this month or by mid-November. He still has a contract with WWE and cannot take part in public functions organised by other wrestling federations without its permission.
“The grand opening ceremony of the Games has proved to one and all that we are capable of organising the Olympics as well,” he said.
