The dream run of Girish Koushik continued as he defeated Swedish Grandmaster Gandelius Nils in the eighth round of the SDAT-RAMCO 50th World Junior and 29th Junior Girls Chess Championships in Chennai on Wednesday, scoring his fourth successive win against a Grandmaster.

Koushik now shares the lead with Hovhannisyan Robert (Armenia) at 7.0 points. In the process, he achieved his maiden Grandmaster Norm and will now set his eyes on the crown.

Karnataka emerge overall champions
Karnakata has emerged overall champions in the 38th Junior National Aquatic Championship with 528 points.
In all 22 new national records were created during the championship that ended at Prakash Taran Pushkar on Monday.

Mehta eyes glory on pro circuit
Newly-crowned national snooker champion Aditya Mehta now aims to become the highest ranked Indian on the world professional circuit.

Mehta won his maiden national title on Tuesday, upstaging five-time champion Alok Kumar 6-2 in the best of 11 format final in Chennai.

"It was always my dream to play in the highly-demanding professional circuit,” said Mehta.
