Jaipur Polo Company came up with some fine horsemanship to defeated ASC by eight goals to five-and-a-half on the second day of the Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia Gold Cup tournament, at the Jaipur Ground on Wednesday. In another exciting match, the Sahgal Stud held Sona Polo to a 5-5 draw.
The ASC began the match enjoying a one-and-a-half goal advantage on handicap. Seconds into the first chukker ASC's Dhruvpal Godara latched on to a ball to score a fine goal.
However after that, it was his brother Dhruvpal who held sway, slamming one goal after another for JPC to demolish ASC.
The former World Cupper scored half-a-dozen goals and was ably assisted by Raghavraj Singh (1) and Uday Kalaan (1). The second chukker started with a foul — a 60-yard penalty in favour of Jaipur Polo Company — which was promptly converted by Manupal.
The fourth and final chukkar was a high-scoring one.
Later, two back-to-back spot hits in favour of Jaipur Polo Company saw them consolidate their lead.
Tarsem scored a fine goal for ASC but Uday Kalaan hammered the final nail just as the hooter went off.
On Thursday, Elevation / Jindal will take on ASC, while the Gladiators will lock horns with Jaipur Polo Company.
