The incident occurred when Gupta went for dinner with her family to Ambrai restaurant in Udaipur on Monday and lost her mobile phone worth Rs 40,000. When Gupta went to inquire about her phone from the restaurant staff, the latter allegedly beat up Gupta and her husband Anoop after an altercation.
Assistant sub inspector Ram Lal Gurjar, the investigating officer, said four people, including the restaurant's manager and three waiters were detained on Tuesday. Police are investigating the matter.
He said the mobile phone was also recovered from the compound of the restaurant on Monday night.
Gupta, who has coached six times world boxing champion Mary Kom, is a native of Jhunjunu and is based in Delhi. The 30-year-old boxing coach had come to Udaipur on April 4 on holiday. Besides her husband, she was being accompanied by her father-in-law and mother-in-law.
