The clamour for exclusive sound bytes and quotable quotes left champion women archer Deepika Kumari in tears as she was chased for interviews following India’s gold medal-winning effort at the Archery World Cup in Poland. Deepika, the captain of women’s recurve team, begged for privacy, saying she was too tired even as several reporters jostled and demanded that she give them exclusive interviews.

The trio of Deepika, Bombayala, and Rimil won back-to-back World Cup titles beating a formidable South Korea team in the final at Poland’s Wroclaw on Sunday.

Ghosh, Shamini win TT Championships
Dharwad: Reigning national champion Soumyajit Ghosh outclassed Anthony Amalraj 4-1 to retain the men’s singles title while it was a double delight for women’s national champion K Shamini at the Institutional Table Tennis Championships. Shamini won the women’s singles crown 4-0 in a one-sided final against Poulomi Ghatak.

12 I-League clubs granted exemption
New Delhi: Twelve top clubs of the country were Tuesday given one-time exemption for the National Club License, clearing the decks for their participation in the I-League season expected to start next month. The Club Licensing Committee First Instance Body which met here today decided to give one-time exemption so that they can participate in the upcoming 2013-14 football season.

India to face minnows Bangladesh
