“Earlier, there were some customs clearance problems, but that has been sorted out and we got the electronic chips today (Tuesday). In the next two-three days, we will install them at the Karni Singh Ranges so that they can be operational as per the new rules,” said NRAI president, Raninder Singh.

“Though the Sports Authority of India (SAI) did not tell us to get the chips, we got them on our own and SAI will reimburse us,” he added.

Not operational
The report had highlighted how the Rs.50-crore shotgun ranges were not operational since January, when the new rules in skeet and double trap came into force, for want of electronic chips, which cost just ¤150.

This had forced SAI to look to the private range in Patiala for holding the national camp and trials for the senior section.
