Defending champions Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and formidable West Bengal and North Bengal carved out facile 3-0 victories to storm into the womens' quarterfinal of the Kolkata West International city 69th Senior National and Inter State Table Tennis championships on Monday.
While PSCB spanked Orissa, West Bengal crushed Madhya Pradesh and North Bengal breezed past Punjab in pre-quarter final outings at the Siliguri Municipal Corporation Indoor stadium.
Among other teams, Maharashtra-A and Maharashtra-B prevailed over Gujapat and Delhi respectively by identical 3-1 margins, while Tamil Nadu swept away a feeble challenge from Andhra Pradesh 3-0 on way to the last eight.
Rajasthan eves also made it to the quarters with a fluent 3-1 win over Chandigarh, and Banking Sports Board showed the door to Assam with a 3-0 triumph.
Altogether 28 teams have enrolled in the women's championship while in the mens' championship the number of groups is 35.
