GM Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh joined them with a fine victory over Super GM Smbat Lputian of Armenia. The Bangladeshi managed to exploit the exposed king of his opponent in the endgame to win in 39 moves of a Reti opening.
Local lad and International Master (IM) Saptarshi Roy caused the upset of the round. He won an exciting game against GM Vladimir Dobrov of Russia.
