Jenson Button could very well have secured the award for blooper of the season. Even though there are still 16 races left to go in the 2011 Formula 1 season, it seems unlikely that anyone will top what Button did on his first tyre stop in the Chinese Grand Prix.
On lap 14, he lead Sebastian Vettel into the pit lane and it seemed like he would lead him out of it too. Unfortunately Button's attention was drawn to one of the many switches on his McLaren's steering wheel as he entered the pit.
The lapse in concentration lead him to pull into the Red Bull pit box that was just before McLaren's. It was only after Red Bull mechanics wildly gestured him to clear out that Button realized his mistake and pulled into the correct pit box.
Button ended up losing track position to Vettel and possibly a podium spot too.
