Having experimented a bit with his technique in the past one year, ace Indian double trap shooter Ronjan Sodhi heads for the ISSF World Cup in London, confident of fetching medals and breaking records.
Talking to PTI, just before leaving for London via Italy, Sodhi who had equalled the world record thrice in past two years, said the current year was a big one in the international shooting arena.
"I am leaving for London for the World Cup which would kick off from May 11. I have my competition on May 16 so I would also stay for 2-3 days in Italy," Sodhi said.
"Both of my coaches are there and apart from fine tuning of my preparations, one of them, Marcello Dradi would also be accompanying me to London," he added.
Sodhi said he is hoping to put up a fine show after experimenting a bit last year.
"This is the big year in international shooting. After the London world Cup, there are the Delhi Commonwealth Games in October and the Asian Games. Whatever experiments were needed, I had done in previous year. Now I want to put my best foot forward and peak at the right time.
"I have equalled the world record thrice in past two years. This year I competed in the double trap event to equal my own world record in Acapulco, Mexico and shot a score of 147/150 that was equal to world record," said Sodhi.
Sodhi praised the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and the government for the support they were providing to the shooters.
